Wild Water from NetEnt: Slot Review - grab the surfboard!

GamingRevolution tested NetEnt's Wild Water. This slot machine is based on a 1960s surfer theme and comes with a super fun free spins bonus. This feature offers up to 60 free spins, making it rather profitable.

As we have come to expect from Net Entertainment, the reels spin seamlessly, and the graphics are very detailed. In this game, the light colour scheme adds not only to the slot machine's atmosphere but also boosts players' spirits.

Special Features

Now, to a surfer’s greatest enemy, the shark. The shark is the wild symbol in Wild Water. When a shark appears and results in a player winning on the reels, this symbol will expand and turn the entire reel wild. This can be very profitable, as can some of the other bonus features in NetEnt’s Wild Water.

My favourite feature in this slot machine is the free spins feature. Upon receiving more than three Surfer scatter symbols, the free spins mode will be activated. As is common in NetEnt slot machines, the amount of free spins increases with every additional Surfer scatter symbol a player receives. A player receives 15 free spins if he gets three surfer symbols, 30 if he gets 4 symbols and a very good 60 free round if he gets 5 of these symbols.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

Wild Water, developed by NetEnt, is based on a surfer theme. In fact, a retro version of the surfer theme, which somehow reminds of Sydney’s Bondi beach. The background is a beach scene, depicted in slightly fading colours, adding to the 1960s vibe. On the five reels, the majority of symbols are attractive beach goers – ripped surfer dudes and equally attractive ladies. Of course, the shark also forms part of this slot game, but more on that later. The reels and rows are framed in bamboo and the soundtrack is reminiscent of the Beach Boys. So far, this NetEnt production deserves top marks.

Win lines, Payouts and Jackpots

NetEnt slot machines always come with some pretty good features, such as auto spin and max bet. The latter might not be your favourite option, given a relatively high maximum bet (coin value starts at 0.01 and goes up to 0.50, with one to ten bet levels on 20 paylines available). The auto spin, however, given that Wild Water is a slot machine with medium variance might be a good option to enjoy a few rounds, rather than to start each round separately. Bearing all this in mind, I tend to play with amounts that I am comfortable to lose, but amounts that are high enough to give me good rewards. Wild Water comes with several bonus features, which also means that the chances of at least one of them being triggered are quite high.

Our Verdict on Wild Water

If I had to criticise anything about NetEnt's Wild Water, it would be the fact, that this slot machine makes you want to go to the beach, and enjoy time in sunny climes. Instead, you are probably at home, in front of the screen. Yet, with fairly good and regular wins, this feeling is soon forgotten and replaced by joy and thrill. Wild Water really has it all - and more, given its very attractive design.
