Players nowadays like to play casino games that are fun to play, payout a nice profit, and most importantly are easy to follow. These kinds of games grow in popularity due to word of mouth of course. Popular software developer PlayPearls is all too aware of this and that is why they released this unusual but really simple card game. Let’s see if this game is worth catching the wave or if it is better to just stay put on dry land?

Catch The Wave is played with a regular 52 card deck.

Special Features

The main objective of this game is to outlast the dealer for as long as possible by correctly guessing if a card is higher or lower than the dealer’s card. To play the game, you first need to place a bet and you do this by selecting some chips that are located the bottom righthand corner of the screen. The chips vary in value from 1 all the way up to a whopping 100 a piece! Once you are happy with the chips you have selected, press the ‘Deal’ button to begin the game.

When the game starts, you and the dealer will both be given a card that is placed on the table face-up. Then the real fun begins as you presented with 3 different options: Higher, Lower, No Card. If you feel the next card will be higher or lower than the previous card then press the ‘Higher’ or ‘Lower’ buttons. You can also ‘stand’ with your current card by pressing the ‘No Card’ button and this will switch the play to the dealer. It is worth highlighting that the dealer will stand when given cards that have a value ranging from 5 to 1. The process of hitting cards will continue until you make an incorrect call, stand, or successfully hit 6 times in a row. If the dealer makes an incorrect call then you will be paid 1 to 1 but only if you are still in the game. If you are lucky enough to successfully hit the cards six times in a row then you will be automatically paid 6 to 1 on your initial bet and this is known as catching the wave.

If you find that you are having a rub of the green with a certain bet then it is possible to reuse this bet over and over. To do this all you have to do is press the ‘Rebet’ button after a hand finishes. If your lucky streak ends and you want to remove the current bet then press the ‘Clear Bet’ button when a round ends.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

The graphics are not that impressive but this game is not too concerned with how it looks as it focuses firmly on the action taking place on the table instead. The game is played on a dark green felt casino table that features a faded spade symbol design. On the table, you will see some playing cards and stacks of colourful chips that are placed right in front of the dealer’s chair.

There is no music in this game but you will hear the voice of the Live Dealer as he will tell you when to place bets and when a round has been won.

Win lines, Payouts and Jackpots

The game is played with a standard 52 card deck and has an RTP ranging between 96% and 97%. The maximum payout is 6 to 1.

Below is a summary taken from the PayOut Table from the game.

Chip Value: 1.00, 5.00, 25.00, 100.00

  • The Wave Pays 6 to 1
  • Dealer must stand from 5 to 1

Our Verdict on Catch The Wave

PlayPearls created this quirky card game and I must admit that it is really good fun trying to outlast the dealer with the cards that you have been dealt. I found myself desperately trying to catch the wave on quite a few times but I usually only got as far as 4 or 5 hits in a row. The main appeal of Catch The Wave is that it is super easy to play and although this might put off more established card players, do not let that sway you as the payouts can be very rewarding especially when you do catch the wave and land a wonderful 6 to 1 payout!
